The saree features a unique dual-tone appearance:

  • Body: A warm Mustard or Bronze-Gold hue.

  • Pallu & Border: A deep Navy Blue or Royal Purple contrast.

  • Zari: The metallic thread used for the patterns is Antique Gold, which adds a regal shimmer without being overly bright.

2. The Pallu (Decorative End)

The blue/purple section is the Pallu, which is draped over the shoulder. It is heavily embellished with traditional motifs:

  • Annapakshi/Peacock Motifs: Central to the larger rectangular panels are stylized birds, symbols of grace and beauty.

  • Paisleys and Floral Creepers: The borders around the central panels feature delicate Kodivisiri (floral vine) patterns.

  • Temple Border: At the junction where the blue meets the mustard body, there is a row of small triangular patterns known as Gopuram or Temple borders.

3. The Saree Body

The mustard-colored body is adorned with Buttas (small woven motifs). In this case, they are geometric, coin-shaped, or diamond-style motifs spaced evenly. These are woven directly into the fabric using the Adai technique, ensuring the design is visible on both sides.

4. Fabric and Craftsmanship

  • Material: This is likely Pure Mulberry Silk. The heavy drape and the way the fabric reflects light are characteristic of high-quality Kanchipuram silk.

  • Durability: Kanjivaram sarees are known for their weight and strength; a genuine handloom piece can last for generations if cared for properly.

  • Occasions: This specific color combination is highly popular for weddings, grand receptions, and religious festivals like Varalakshmi Vratam or Diwali
Maintenance Tip: To preserve the gold zari, never spray perfume directly on the saree, as the chemicals can cause the metallic threads to blacken. Always store it in a breathable cotton or muslin bag.
